Weekend Update April 25th

Hello everyone! I seem to only post after the weekend. It’s an odd routine to be in. Is it because I am copying SNL? No – I hardly think it’s that since that show has become absolute rubbish. Is it because I discriminate against the weekdays? Doubt that one too, aside from Mondays and Wednesdays. I think it’s based on the fact that my weekdays are lacking in anything interesting and everything happens Thursday to Sunday.

It seemed to be a fairly productive and entertaining weekend. I headed up north, after some financial paper work, with my Dad and proceeded to demolish our cabin. This remodeling job is proving to be fun and loaded with possibilities. Of course, if you looked at it from the perspective of my Mom and Dad it might not be so fun because they have put in a much larger amount of work. Especially my Dad, who has taken it upon himself to remove the old water heating system. A very tiring and dirty process. It was fun for the 24ish hours I was up there however. I completed the demo of 2 rooms and took down a "perma" bunk bed fixture. The "highlight" was when I was playing with live wires and set of a large spark. Exciting!

I came back Saturday and it was a nice cool refreshing drive that got me pumped to go racing that night. It was the first SRA event, which is similar to an actual NASCAR season. However this is a simulator racing experience that has you driving a "real" car that moves and makes you feel as if you are actually on the track. This week it was Atlanta where I improved my best lap time from 28.3 down to 27.9. A huge improvement for me. Lady luck was not on my side that night however and in my heat race and in my F main I ended up getting thrown into the wall and spun out, respectively. In the Last Chance race I had a good opportunity to get into the finals, but a mix up in the pole positions left me starting 7th rather than 1st, with 1st being replace by a guy who I believe holds the tracks fastest lap record. I did end up finishing 5th I think in that race so that was no small accomplishment. I will definitely be heading back on May 7th with Justin (and Amber? Elizabeth? John? Others?) and race Daytona. (To make up for the cancellation of it 2 weeks ago.) Daytona should prove fun because you never let your foot off the gas and you have to find someone to team up with and draft your way to the finish. Justin and I will be looking out for each other in that one.

So Saturday ends and then comes Sunday which is wholly uneventful except for my spurt where I went out and bought printer cartridges. Yep, that’s Sunday. Today was kinda boring too, just classes. Last Marketing class, the final is next week. I am expecting a B in that class. I think I might get a 3.00 this semester, which isn’t bad but sure does deviate from my 3.75s of the last 2 semesters. Right now I will be studying for my accounting quiz tomorrow, which could very well decide if I get a good grade in that class or not.

As a side note, I have started to learn Object Oriented Programming. I already know it a little from VPython and a program I made for physics for game developers. The program created many particles and observed their reactions to a large meteorite object hitting a field of them. I wanted to create a real simulation of a large impact. It was not easy to do and is still incomplete, but my teacher liked it at the time. I’m moving into seeing it’s uses in PHP. So far I haven’t examined a a huge advantage or need in my programming needs, that can’t be met with regular old functions and includes but I am learning. Give me a couple more days and I will have a script or something that does something neato.

With that I bid you ado

Weekend Update April 19th

I’m not going to write too much in this post because time is a luxury I don’t have at the moment. I am currently playing slave driver in a group trying to get everyone to email their slides to me so that I can assemble them. This is proving difficult and I can only hope that all is done in time.

I must apologize for telling everyone to shatter a puppy. I didn’t really mean it. I hold nothing against puppies, so long as they don’t yip and bite. Perhaps this week I will direction my aggression elsewhere.

New game came in the mail; Jade Empire. It’s made by, possibly my favorite company, Bioware. Bioware is known for such great things as Baldur’s Gate and Knights of the Old Republic. I’m excited to play this, but find I don’t have enough time and put it off in favor of constructive activities.

The weekend was fun. Went over to Greg’s on Friday to play some poker and chill with the guys. Great fun and good to see that most relationships are healed, or at least the more important ones. The rest of it was spent playing KOTOR (See Knights game above). I picked it up because Jade Empire took 5 days, when clearly I told them to ship it in 2 days. None the less I gave them a tongue lashing and was done with them.

That’s about all, if I think of something else, you will know because I will post.

LP – Just one and it’s pretty funny, especially for those who go to the U of M

Weekend Update

This past week has been kind of rough. For a logical reason I have been excluded from a group of 5 for housing next year. It is easier to find a house for 4. Why a 3 and 2 fix couldn’t be found, I don’t know, but I could guess. The decision was made before a house had been found as well. All signs point to a more emotional reason and influencing rather than a logical reason. This stemmed lots of drama that isn’t necessary, to say the least. Some shit has been building since day one and some people would rather just go on behind backs rather than bring the issues to the front. If I were overtly concerned with the issues I would try my best to bring them to the fore-front and deal with them. However, I don’t know what they are exactly and no one apparently wants to tell me. I feel that all this "dramatic" behavior is all too "high-schoolish" and even though friendships may be on the line, I’d rather just be rid of it than continue to fight a losing battle. There is no reason this couldn’t have been handled like able minded adults and there is no reason it still can’t. It has helped me understand what my priorities are and that the only safe bet is yourself, all other are wildcards. If it sounds harsh, it is, it’s life, it’s not meant to be easy. This doesn’t mean I hate the world, no, I don’t hate anyone. I’m really grateful for all the friends and family that I have, it’s just that recently I have become disappointed in a few. They let me down at an important time and did it in very poorly chosen manner. The entire situation should have been handled better. The goal as stated by some was not reached. All of the behavior surrounding this mess appears very personal in nature and that is why those closest to me acted as they did. For when those truly close to you are hurt, you hurt as well. Perhaps some do not see how it could be personal, but I ask you to walk in my shoes for one moment and understand all that I have been through (since the beginning of last year). If after that you still do not understand then ask me sometime. I will be more than glad to share with you the trials and tribulations of the past two years. As for now, I see that I need to focus on what is important to me and that is finishing this semester off the best that I can. While the situation will better with time, it is uncertain as to what exactly will be the outcome. My door remains open and I prefer in the face rather than in the back.

Well now the good news. It is possible that Nick is coming to the U and if he reads this, then I am not forcing him to come, but if he does, that’d be pretty cool. If he does come here than there is 99% (+/- 1%). chance that I will be rooming with him. If so conversations might go something like this. Who is who, is up to you. If he decides not to come to the U I will be getting a single or a studio in dinkytown, chop off my ear and become an artist.

Made cookies and dinner with Elizabeth today. The food was so good and filling. Good family recipes I must say.

Ok I am tired and this is a busy busy busy week.

LP sounds much more "bling bling…yo." than link pimpin, so I will be using that from now on. With that said here is the LP for this weekend!

Link Pimping April 6th

Ok so I just owned up on my econ assignment and got a decent grade on my accounting quiz (the class where C does mean average.) I will be going racing this saturday. It is race one of the SMS racing season and it will be held at none other than Daytona. It’s fairly cheap as racing goes and includes food and drink. I also got my skateboard in the mail. Much better quality than I anticipated and I look for ward to improving my skills past a 5y/o in a skatepark.

Now for the links! (These are the ones I liked from various sites)
